Hibs team news v Motherwell as Jack Ross forced into surprise defensive switch

Jack Ross has named his team for Hibernian's Scottish Premiership clash with Motherwell - and there is a change at the back.

The Easter Road side continued their superb run of victories with a comfortable 2-0 win over ten-man Hamilton Accies last week to strengthen their claim on third and edge closer to the promised land of European football.

They could take another giant step towards sealing continental qualification for next term by making it five victories on the spin against their Lanarkshire rivals, who ground out a point at St Mirren during the week.

Seven goals conceded in two games - including in a bruising 4-1 defeat to Accies at Fir Park - have had Graham Alexander's side anxiously gazing over their shoulders as the top flight hurtles towards the end of season split.

Ross has been able to relax slightly after three of his five injury concerns returned to training on Friday, but the Hibs boss has kept the identity of those suffering with niggling knock close to his chest.

The Easter Road boss made his first change in three games last week when subbing out Alex Gogic for the fit-again Joe Newell, and has been forced into another switch this time with Josh Doig dropping out in place of Lewis Stevenson.

Hibernian XI: Marciano, P. McGinn, McGregor, Hanlon (C), Cadden, Newell, Irvine, Stevenson, Boyle, Murphy, Doidge

Subs: Macey, Gray, Porteous, Gogic, Wright, Hallberg, Allan, Bradley, Nisbet

Motherwell XI: Kelly, O'Donnell, Magloire, Lamie, Carroll, Maguire, Campbell, Crawford, Roberts, Cole, Watt

Subs: Morrison, McGinley, Devine, Gallagher, Polworth, Cornelius, Lawless, Hastie, Long

Referee: Alan Muir
