Hibs target Allan Campbell in talks with English Championship side over move

Reported Hibernian target Allan Campbell is in talks with English side Milwall over a pre-contract agreement that would see the Scotland under-21 international join the London club at the end of the season.

The highly-rated all action midfielder is in the final six months of his deal at Motherwell and is free to talk to sides in January.

The Easter Road side were among the clutch of clubs chasing his signature in the first window of the season following Campbell's impressive start, during which time the Steelmen offered him an extension to his deal.

Aberdeen were also rumoured to be in for the midfielder, who now seems unlikely to put pen to paper at Fir Park following the departure of Stephen Robinson as manager.

The Scottish Sun claims that Milwall have "now opened talks" regarding the 22-year-old, though manager Gary Rowett is reportedly keen to sign the player this month.

Campbell has scored twice in 21 appearances for the Lanarkshire side this season and has been among their standout performers despite a poor run leaving the club off the bottom of the Premiership on goal difference only.

The midfielder's combative style and driving runs from deep have been compared to Easter Road favourite and Aston Villa star John McGinn by current Motherwell interim boss Keith Lasley.

Jack Ross is rumoured to add one former 'Well star to his ranks this week, with Chris Cadden on the verge of joining from MLS side Columbus Crew.

Goalkeeper Matt Macey is also expected to arrive from Arsenal until the end of the season, while Kevin Dabrowski has been recalled from his loan at Dumbarton following the departure of Dillon Barnes.

Meanwhile, Paddy Martin has extended his loan at Stenhousemuir until the end of the campaign.
