Hibs target Allan Campbell gives update on future as Motherwell man parks transfer talk

Hibernian target Allan Campbell insists he will park any focus on his future until the end of the season to help ease Motherwell away from Premiership relegation concerns.

The 22-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is rumoured to be on the shortlist of several sides north and south of the border.

Jack Ross is known to be a long-term admirer of the box-to-box midfielder, who shone for the Fir Park outfit in the early part of the season, while Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes is also keen on bringing him to Pittodrie when his deal expires in the summer.

The pair face competition from Millwall, who failed to prise Ryan Porteous away from Hibs in January, while several other English clubs have noted their interest in the Scotland under-21 international.

However Campbell refuses to be distracted by any rumours over his future ahead of the Steelmen’s Lanarkshire derby clash against Hamilton this weekend and maintained that any considerations over where he will be playing his football next season can wait until Well’s top flight safety is secured.

“January was just normal day-to-day like any other month; coming in here, training, and then playing at the weekend,” he said.

“My main focus is just trying to put in good performances for Motherwell and just trying to get this club up the table.

“Football is football, all I can do is just worry about what is happening at the weekend and try to put in a performance to keep me in the team and get a good result for Motherwell.”

Campbell added: “What will be, will be. All I think about is what game is coming up, and can I do better in that game, and just maintain that focus.”

Graham Alexander’s side face a trip to Easter Road at the end of the month following meetings with St Johnstone and St Mirren.
