Hibs striker Christian Doidge 'Baffled' by Jack Ross awards snub

Hibernian striker Christian Doidge has been left 'baffled' by the decision to omit the club's head coach Jack Ross from the nominations for manager of the year.

Doidge could lead the line for the Hibees at Hampden this afternoon against Dundee United, as Ross looks to guide his players to their first Scottish Cup final since his appointment.

Moreover, Hibs are strong favourites to seal the coveted third-place in this season's Premiership and can officially do so by avoiding defeat at Pittodrie next week.

A potential top-three finish and cup glory should be enough to have Ross in with a shout of individual gongs, says Doidge, with Steven Gerrard, Steve Clarke, Callum Davidson and David Martindale named as the shortlist for this season's Scottish Football Writers' Manager of the Year award.

On the decision, Doidge explained: "I saw it on Twitter and was a bit baffled by that.

"When you think where we were last season and what we’ve done this year it’s very strange but I don’t think it’s something he’ll look at much.”
