Hibs star Josh Doig 'being tracked' by Arsenal as Kieran Tierney back-up

Premier League giants Arsenal are reportedly keeping a close eye on Hibs youngster Josh Doig.

Doig is still only 18 but his outstanding displays for Jack Ross 's side this season have belied his age, with the left-back claiming the Scottish Football Writers' Young Player of the Year award, whilst also being in the running for SPFA gong too.

The teenager could add the first winners' medal of his career to his growing trophy cabinet later this month when the Hibees take on St. Johnstone in the Scottish Cup final, and it seems there will be plenty of interested scouts keeping track of proceedings at the national stadium.

Football London are reporting that they understand Doig is being considered as a potential option for Arsenal this summer, with the Gunners also considering Ryan Bertrand as back-up for ex-Celtic defender Kieran Tierney.

However, whilst Champions League winner Bertrand might have a lot more experience, Doig could be a more attractive option given the Scotland Under-18 international would not contribute to the list of a maximum of 17 foreign players over the age of 21 that Arsenal are allowed in their 25-man list for the Premier League next season.

A lucrative move to the English Premier League might be too tempting for Doig to pass up, but it remains to be seen whether or not the Easter Road hierarchy would be willing to sell their prized asset, and at what price.
