Hibs star gutted over Southampton ace's injury but vows to take Scotland chance

Hibs and Scotland striker Kevin Nisbet is gutted to see Southampton star Che Adams ruled out of the nation's match with Faroe Islands - but he hopes to get the chance to fill his void effectively.

Nisbet of Cambuslang is in line to feature for Steve Clarke's side in Torshavn this Tuesday with Adams returning to Southampton after a muscle injury picked up during the weekend's win over Israel.

The 3-2 success over Israel at Hampden means Scotland are four points clear in second place in World Cup 2022 qualification Group F.

Victories over Faroe Islands and Moldova would be enough to secure a World Cup play-off spot ahead of facing group leaders Denmark. Hibs star Nisbet could potentially be tasked with finding the goals against Faroe Islands.

While unhappy to see a fellow teammate injured, the Cambuslang striker insists that he must take his Scotland chance, if given the opportunity.

"It is not nice seeing people getting injured, especially Che, we get on really well," said Nisbet. "I was gutted for him. But is an opportunity for me to go and play.

"If that is from the start or later in the game I will be ready if called upon. he gaffer has put together a great group and if one goes out, one comes in and does the same job.

"He is always on to us, those on the bench, to watch set-plays and stuff just so it is an easy transition to come on and slot in.

"I am always ready when called upon but even watching it (the Israel game) on the side, I was absolutely buzzing for the boys. It is a massive three points in World Cup qualification.

"Obviously it is not over yet, but it is in our hands now and it is basically ours to lose."
