Hibs star backed for Scotland impact by Tam McManus as Faroe Islands chance beckons

Cambuslang's Kevin Nisbet has been backed to take his Scotland chance tonight by Hibs hero Tam McManus.

Current Hibs striker Nisbet could start for Steve Clarke's Scotland side in a crucial World Cup 2022 qualifier against Faroe Islands, with Che Adams out of this evening's game with injury.

Nisbet has eight caps for the national team. Scotland beat Israel in qualification Group F on Saturday and wins over Faroe Islands and Moldova would secure a World Cup play-off spot.

McManus believes that Nisbet may thrive playing off Scotland's number nine Lyndon Dykes, if given the nod by Clarke.

"I know Nisbet coming in to the side is down to Che Adams picking up an injury," McManus wrote in his Daily Record column.

"But I believe this could be a game that really suits him and Scotland. Nisbet hasn’t quite recaptured his form of last season yet this year in terms of goals or assists.

"He’s working hard and Hibs are doing well, but he’s not quite firing just yet.

"I think Christian Doidge has been a big miss for him at club level because he’s best operating in a front two.

"That’s why I believe it will work as Lyndon Dykes will be the perfect foil for him.

"You’ve got to love big Dykes. I thought he was brilliant against Israel.

"Nisbet should be rubbing his hands at the prospect of playing off Dykes.

"I always preferred playing as part of a front two and I was fortunate to have the likes of Craig Brewster and Mixu Paatelainen alongside me."
