Hibs spent more than twice the amount Hearts did on agents fees last year

Hibs spent over twice the amount Hearts did on agents fees last year.

New figures released by the Scottish FA revealed how much each club has given to intermediaries for their contribution to transfer negotiations.

Premiership clubs paid out a combined total of nearly £6m.

The Hibees were third overall of the 12 Scottish Premiership clubs, unsurprisingly behind Celtic and Rangers.

The Easter Road club shelled out £107,250 to players’ representatives.

The Jambos were fifth overall, but forked out less than half of the amount their city rivals did, not breaking the £50,000 barrier with a total of £49,602.

Aberdeen split the capital clubs in the list, spending £54,350 compensating agents.

Hibs did spend money to sign striker Florian Kamberi on a permanent basis last summer, as well as bringing Jamie Maclaren back on loan after an impressive second half of the 2017/18 season.

Maclaren’s second season was not a success however and he returned to his native Australia in January.

The Jambos’ transfer business was mostly made up of free transfers and loans, although Craig Wighton was brought in for a six figure sum from Dundee.
