Hibs set to appoint former Norwich City chief as Leeann Dempster successor

Hibs are finally set to appoint a new chief executive with former Norwich City man Ben Kensell on the verge of taking up the Easter Road role.

Ron Gordon has been on the lookout for a replacement for Leeann Dempster since she left the Edinburgh club last November after six years in Leith.

And Record Sport can exclusively reveal that Kensell is close to being announced by Hibs for the key position.

Kensell spent seven years at Carrow Road after initially joining the English Premier League club’s commercial team following spells at Arsenal and Charlton Athletic.

He worked his way up to the position of chief operating officer in 2018, forming part of the club’s then newly founded executive committee.

Kensell left Norwich City last month to “pursue new challenges” with a move north of the border now on the cards.

Canaries one Delia Smith praised his work during his time there with a joint statement from the club’s majority shareholders saying: “We are very sad that Ben has decided to move on. He has made an outstanding contribution to restructuring the club.

“He has also transformed our commercial activities and is highly regarded by all who have worked with him - staff, supporters and sponsors.

“We and the board owe him our heartfelt gratitude and wish him every success in his next venture.”
