Hibs sent Ofir Marciano warning as Israeli keeper tipped for top English switch

Cammy Bell has warned Hibs they risk losing one of Scotland's best keepers if they don't agree a deal for Ofir Marciano.

And the former Easter Road stopper reckons the Israel international is destined for the big time in England or Europe, describing him as the best he's played with.

The 31-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and Bell reckons his old team-mate could easily do a job at the top level in England or in Europe.

If he does exit in the summer, it leaves Jack Ross with a huge task on his hands to find a replacement that will be a match for him.

He currently has Matt Macey to provide competition for Marciano but the giant keeper is also out of contract at the end of this season having only signed a six month deal.

And Bell said: “Ofir has been one of the top goalkeepers in Scotland for the last two or three years and is as good as any keeper I have played with.

“Some of his shot stopping is phenomenal. Every year he is up there for save of the season. He’s got a big presence but his reaction saves are as good as anyone.

“He has all the attributes to go to a higher level - the size, he makes phenomenal saves and I just think he ticks all the boxes to go and play in England or Europe.

“Being an international as well makes him a big player and if Hibs lose him then they’ll have a hard job to find another goalkeeper who can perform at that level every week.

“They’ve had a problem in that department over the years. Goalies have chopped and changed but then Ofir came in and was an established, consistent number one.

“So if they could get him tied down to a new deal it would be a fabulous bit of business.

“I know he loves it at Hibs, he loves the city. If he was to sign a new deal then it would be as good as any new signing they could make.”
