Hibs Scottish Cup hero to speak to Livingston as Gary Holt admits interest in ex Celtic striker

Livingston boss Gary Holt has admitted his interest in Hibs Scottish Cup hero Anthony Stokes.

The 32-year-old striker is currently a free agent having most recently been plying his trade in Iran prior to the COVID-19 shutdown.

The Daily Record previously reported that the West Lothian club were keen to bring him in on a one-year deal as they look to replace Lyndon Dykes, who departed for QPR in a £2million deal last week.

And now Livi boss Holt has confirmed he's keen to have a chat with the ex Celtic man.

He said: “Anthony has a lot of quality and good traits I don’t think we currently have.

“You don’t play at the level he’s played at, win the things he’s won, without being a very good footballer. It is something we’ll explore and we’ll speak to Anthony and his representatives.

“I look at Anthony’s pedigree and think, ‘I could work with him’. But he’ll know he’s coming here to work. We place demands on individuals.

“If he buys into that and wants to be part of it, we have a good chance of getting something done. If not, I’ll shake his hand and say, ‘on you go, then’.”

Stokes has played for Hibs across three different spells, and was a key man in the 2016 Scottish Cup final win over Rangers.
