Hibs Scottish Cup hero Conrad Logan joins ambitious English non-league side

Hibernian cult hero Conrad Logan has joined English side Stamford AFC, the eight-tier side has announced.

The club, who play in the Northern Premier League Division One South East, revealed the signing of the 34-year-old Irishman on social media after he departed another non-league side - United Counties League Premier Division outfit Anstey Nomads.

Logan wrote himself into Hibs folklore with a match-winning performance in the Leith side's penalty shootout victory over Dundee United in the 2016 Scottish Cup semi-final.

He went on to keep goal in the final itself as Hibs ended their 114-year wait for the trophy with a 3-2 win over Rangers before departing as a modern Easter Road legend.

Stamford, who had already completed a move for the former Nottingham Forest and Panathinaikos goalkeeper Luke Steele, sit six points off league leaders Leek Town.

Manager Graham Drury said: “I’m really pleased to sign Conrad – welcome to the club. Just shows with him and Luke [Steele] signing for us they really appreciate the lower level and just love the game.”

Logan had spells at Rochdale, Mansfield and Forest Green Rovers after leaving Hibs in 2016 before dropping into non-league football near his home.

He could make his debut this weekend as The Daniels travel to National League North side Hereford in FA Trophy action.

The ambitious side are hoping for another upset having eliminated Kidderminster Harriers, also of the sixth tier, in the previous round.
