Hibs' Scottish Cup final ticket allocation confirmed following Scottish FA appeal to Scottish Government

Hibs will receive just 300 tickets for the Scottish Cup final against St Johnstone.

The Scottish FA confirmed today that 600 supporters will be allowed into Hampden to see the final game of the season on 22 May.

An approach had been made to the Scottish Government by the govenring body to allow up to 2000 into the national stadium for the showpiece occasion.

However, that was rejected due to the required physical distancing between supporters.

The number is lower than the clubs and many fans were hoping for, and it remains to be seen how tickets will be allocated to punters desperate to get in and see if their side can lift the trophy.

A statement read: "Following dispensation from UEFA to allow a restricted number of supporters to attend the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park on Saturday May 22, the Scottish FA approached the Scottish Government for 2000 fans to be accommodated using the approved UEFA EURO 2020 stadium seating template.

"The Scottish Government has today confirmed that a two metre physical distancing configuration must be used, not the 1.5m configuration that will be in operation for UEFA EURO 2020. At two metre physical distancing, the number of spectators able to be hosted in the approved areas of the stadium reduces to 600 in total – 300 per club.

"We have notified both finalists, Hibernian and St Johnstone, and while the number is less than anticipated we look forward to a limited number of fans attending the cup final."

Hibs responded with a statement of their own and will update fans on how they can purchase briefs tomorrow: "The club is considering the fairest and best way to distribute the tickets and will let supporters know tomorrow."

The Leith outfit booked their spot in the final by beating Dundee United while St Johnstone came out on top against St Mirren.

The Hibees have also secured a third place finish in the Scottish Premiership.
