Hibs say 'core group' are ready to return to training as club issues safety plea to fans

Hibs say a "core group" of players and staff will return to training next week ahead of the new Scottish Premiership season.

The club has announced that some squad members will return to the Hibernian Training Centre at East Mains on Monday to work on their pre-season origramme.

They add that the final preparations are currently being put in place for manager Jack Ross and his new players ahead of the training return.

However the club are keen to remind supporters to stay away for the time being.

In an update, they said: "We know you are looking forward to getting behind the team again and we are doing everything we can to facilitate that. With that being said, we need your help and understanding at this crucial stage.

"The Scottish Government has made it clear that any gathering of supporters – whether it’s at a training ground or stadium – could result in the delay of plans to restart Scottish football. We all still have a shared responsibility to assist the NHS in curbing the spread of coronavirus.

"With that in mind, there will be no access to HTC for supporters and we would ask that you don’t attempt to gain entry. The same applies to any congregation at closed-door games, while we build towards getting you back to games in person.

"There will be a time for autographs and selfies again and we thank you for your patience and continued support in the meantime."
