Hibs reportedly on Portuguese scouting mission at Benfica v Vitoria Setubal

Hibs reportedly had scouts in Portugal over the weekend watching Benfica v Vitoria Setubal as planning for next season continues.

The Scottish Cup semi-finals meant Paul Heckingbottom’s team had a free week and the Easter Road club were  represented on a list of scouts at the match match in Lisbon, according to sports paper A Bola.

It’s unclear who they may have been there to watch specifically, with Sheffield Wednesday also apparently present to see the hosts run out 4-2 winners and remain top of the table in their title fight with rivals Porto.

Hibs may only bring in 'one or two' players this summer if need be

Setubal ‘keeper Giorgi Makaridze famously made his international debut as a teenager against Scotland 12 years ago. He kept a clean sheet as Alex McLeish’s side were beaten 2-0 in Tblisi – a result that effectively ended their hopes of qualifying automatically for Euro 2008.

Benfica: Odysseus Valchodimos, Andre Almeida, Ruben Dias, Ferro, Alex Grimaldo, Pizzi, Andreas Samaris, Luis Morris, Rafa Silva, Joao Felix, Haris Seferovic.

V. Setubal: Giorgi Makaridze, Mano, Artur Jorge, Vasco Fernandes, Andre Sousa, Savio Roberto, Ruben Micael, Eber Bessa, Nuno Valente, Jhonder Cadiz, Hildeberto Pereira.
