Hibs will ramp up their preparation ahead of the Scottish Premiership season on 1 August with two more bounce games against top-flight opposition this week.
The Hibees took on St Mirren at their East Mains training base last Saturday, playing out a 1-1 draw with Jim Goodwin’s Buddies after the Scottish Government gave the go-ahead for games to take place under strict social distancing and coronavirus protocols.
And now they’ll face the other Saints when they travel to Perth to play St Johnstone on Wednesday. It’s a swift return to McDiarmid Park for new signing Drey Wright, who penned a two-year deal with Hibs last Friday.
New striker Kevin Nisbet could also be in line for his Hibs debut after sitting out the game against the Paisley side, in which the Hibees fielded two different XIs in each half.
Hibs were due to place St Johnstone at Easter Road back on 14 March, and the game was set to go ahead behind closed doors before the season was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic less than 24 hours before kick-off.
The campaign was decided on a points per game basis, which meant Saints leapfrogged Hibs into the top six, costing the Leith club around £100,000 in prize money.
Saturday will see Ross County make the trip south to play Jack Ross ’ side at HTC with the competitive action just two weeks away when Hibs host Kilamarnock on the opening day.
Both matches will be heavily restricted in terms of who can attend, with only squads, coaching staff and officials permitted.
Supporters are reminded not to turn up in either Perth or East Lothian in an attempt to gain entry.
