Hibs player to self isolate for 10 days after coronavirus false positive with Aberdeen clash safe to go ahead

Hibs have confirmed that one of their players will self-isolate for 10 days after an initial positive coronavirus test was returned as negative.

The unnamed Hibee returned a positive result after the squad was tested as usual on Friday.

That prompted a follow-up test to determine whether it was a false positive or not, and that came back as showing the player as negative.

A planned training session yesterday was canceled by Hibs and the player will now isolate for 10 days after advice from the Scottish FA and Scottish Government.

That means the player will be unavailable for Sunday’s Scottish Premiership clash with Aberdeen at Easter Road, which goes ahead as planned.

With domestic action taking a break next week due to Scotland’s Nations League opening fixtures against Israel and the Czech Republic, the player should be able to return to training in time for Jack Ross’ side's trip to former club St Mirren on 12 September.
