Hibs player ratings v St Johnstone as Doig proves worth to Easter Road side in defeat

Ofir Marciano - 7

Very little to do other than the goal and displayed some neat footwork to get away from David Wotherspoon from a short back pass.

Ryan Porteous - 5

A decent performance from Porto on his return, looked comfortable on the ball but much like his Hibs defensive counterparts, was far too susceptible to pumping it up the park.

Paul Hanlon - 6

Much better in the second half and took a whack in the face for his troubles, but should at least have forced St Johnstone keeper Zander Clark into a save with his headed effort.

Paul McGinn - 5

A mixed bag. Too sloppy in possession in the first half, but far better going forward in the second. Jack Ross might have a decision to make when it comes to starting him and Cadden together.

Josh Doig - 7

Probably the Easter Road side's best player and most potent attacking threat. Much better when allowed to take the limiters off and get forward.

Chris Cadden - 4

A quiet afternoon for the wide man, but right wing is clearly not his best position. An experiment worth trying, but probably not repeating.

Alex Gogic - 5

Did a decent job of breaking up play and laying the ball off in midfield, but not a passer and evidenced that at times.

Joe Newell - 5

Never allowed any time on the ball by the hosts and should have scored when presented with a glorious opportunity in the first half.

Jackson Irvine - 5

A few nice touches, but needs to start contributing more in an attacking sense to match his running in midfield.

Kevin Nisbet - 5

Worked hard on his return to the starting XI and didn't always get the rewards. Not helped by 40 minutes of the ball being punted over his head.

Martin Boyle - 4

A few decent breaks but never really got up to full speed and suffered when he was moved to right wing back in the second half.

Subs

Christian Doidge - 4

Put himself about when he came on and probably should have started.

Jamie Murphy - 3

Made a few decent forays forward without success.

Melker Hallberg - 2

Did not make enough of an impact when on as a sub.
