Hibs player ratings v Celtic as late Nisbet strike earns point from Parkhead

Hibernian claimed a late point from Parkhead as Kevin Nisbet's stoppage time equaliser stopped the rot for the Leith outfit after three straight defeats.

Jack Ross' men clawed their way back into the contest after David Turnbull's spectacular free kick eight minutes from time appeared to have given Celtic all three points in awful winter conditions.

The home side had been rocked by the positive COVID-19 test and subsequent self-isolation of 13 players that followed their ill-advised trip to Dubai for warm weather training, yet they were still able to name a squad boasting 143 international caps between them.

But the Easter Road side were not to be denied their first point since December 23 and after the hosts failed to clear a late free kick, Nisbet pounced to nick a draw.

Here is how the Hibs players rated at Celtic Park:

Matt Macey - 7

A couple of decent saves from the big keeper on his debut, very little he could do about a well-placed David Turnbull strike.

Josh Doig - 7

Did well to keep Jeremie Frimpong under close attention before being replaced by Lewis Stevenson at the break.

Paul Hanlon - 6

Generally marshalled the back line well, gave Celtic very little in the way of clear cut opportunities.

Ryan Porteous - 6

Again, kept Celtic at arm's length and had a couple of decent cross-field passes, but also a few errant balls forward.

Paul McGinn - 7

Defended well and continued to get forward late on to win the free kick that led to Nisbet's late equaliser.

Drey Wright - 5

Found himself outmuscled by Diego Laxalt in his only real foray forward before he was replaced by Christian Doidge when the visitors changed shape.

Alex Gogic - 6

Improved on recent displays, battled well in the middle of the pitch but still a little too slack in possession.

Melker Hallberg - 6

A few decent touches and some good deliveries that did not get the finish they deserved, but still a little wasteful.

Joe Newell - 7

Strolled it in midfield with a quality range of passing and tested Conor Hazard early on with a dipping volley before going off injured.

Jamie Murphy - 7

Still getting back to full fitness, but looked neat on the ball and made a few decent blocks in the defensive third.

Kevin Nisbet - 8

Looked lively even when the game was drifting in the second half and took his goal well when it came.

Subs:

Lewis Stevenson - 7

Legend, 500 not out, comfortable when he came off the bench.

Christian Doidge - 6

Put himself about and caused enough chaos in the box to allow Nisbet the chance to score.

Stevie Mallan - 5

Delivery for the goal was good, but a couple of wayward efforts prior to that summed up the contest,

Stephen McGinn - 3

Needlessly gave away the free kick that led to the Celtic goal, one to forget.
