Hibs lineup v Rangers revealed as Jack Ross drops Paul Hanlon to hand armband to veteran centre half

Jack Ross has named his team for Hibernian's Scottish Premiership clash with Rangers at Easter Road - and has named Darren McGregor as captain.

The men in green and white face an uphill battle if they are to banish the memory of their painful Hampden defeat to St Johnstone at the weekend as Steven Gerrard's men arrive in Leith with an unblemished top flight record stretching back 25 games.

The Leith outfit claimed their first win in four league outings after a post-Christmas slump in form when they eased to a 2-0 victory over Kilmarnock on a difficult surface.

Conditions at Easter Road have shown little visible improvement from that afternoon with both sides set to be forced into a battle in front of the Sky cameras this evening.

Hibs have not beaten Rangers in almost three years, though Ross is one of the only managers to take a point off the Ibrox side this season, earning a 2-2 in September.

The Easter Road boss has made three changes from the side that capitulated against St Johnstone in the Betfred Cup semi-final, including restoring McGregor to the starting line up for the first time since November.

He replaces Paul Hanlon, who drops to the bench alongside Martin Boyle, while Jamie Murphy is ineligible against his parent club.

Christian Doidge and Melker Hallberg take their respective places among the starting XI.

Hibernian XI: Marciano, P. McGinn, McGregor (C), Porteous, Doig, Cadden, Gogic, Hallberg, Irvine, Doidge, Nisbet.

Subs: Macey, Hanlon, Stevenson, Magennis, Mallan, Wright, Boyle, Allan, Gullan.

Rangers XI: McGregor, Tavernier (C), Goldson, Helander, Barisic, Kamara, Jack, Davis, Aribo, Kent, Morelos,

Subs: McLaughlin, Bassey, Patterson, Balogun, Zungu, Barker, Hagi, Itten, Roofe
