Hibs' Kevin Nisbet will be a 'top striker' as pundits rave about in demand hitman's top flight impact

Kevin Nisbet is going to be a “top striker” and should have been on Celtic ’s transfer wishlist.

That’s according to Barry Ferguson and Si Ferry, who were raving about the Easter Road front man amidst the deadline day speculation surrounding him.

The 23-year-old was wanted by Birmingham City, but The Blues refused to meet Hibs ’ asking price and he'll be going nowhere.

Nisbet reportedly handed in a transfer request to try and force a move south.

Both Ferguson and Ferry can see why he’s a man in demand, with Ferry questioning why he wasn’t on Neil Lennon’s  radar last summer rather than Patrik Klimala.

"I would have taken Nisbet (to Celtic),” he told Go Radio.I”f you think they paid £3.5m for Patryk Klimala and you had the chance of getting Nisbet who has scored 11 goals this year.

"He's younger, knows the league and fits the style of play. It was a no-brainer.

"He'd bring in energy. From now until the end of the season they need guys that will come in and run about."

Former Rangers captain Fergsuon doesn’t believe Nisbet is the finished article but sees a tonne of potential in him, and can;t help but be impressed by how he’s done in just six months as a Scottish Premiership player.

He added: "I still think he's raw but he's a good player.

"I think there's a lot to work on and I think there is going to be a right top striker in there once he matures.

"Remember this is his first six months in the Premier League and he's done brilliantly."
