Hibs' Kevin Dabrowski facing Hearts and Dundee United was no happy coincidence says Paul Heckingbottom

Paul Heckingbottom has revealed that Kevin Dabrowki was sent on loan to Cowdenbeath specifically because they were in hearts’ Betfred Cup group.

The Polish ‘keeper has joined the Blue Brazil on loan from Hibs until January, having spent part of last season with Civil Service Strollers.

He turned in a Man of the Match performance last week as the Jambos won 2-0 at Central Park, but Dabrowsky drew praise from Craig Levein and applause from the traveling support thanks to his display between the sticks.

He started again at Tannadice last Friday night in front of the cameras as Robbie Neilson’s team ran out 3-0 winners.

And Heckingbottom admitted that the chance to perform against their city rivals and Dundee Utd was exactly the reason he went where he did.

“We didn’t have Maxy [Chris Maxwell] in and Ofir was away so we couldn’t let him do it,” he explained. “We knew we were going to do it but we needed the guys in and training first and available for our games.

“But we were really keen to get him out for the league cup games because he’s got Hearts and Dundee United in his group. It’s great experience for him.”
