Hibs Jamie McCart transfer frustrations grow as St Johnstone play hardball over third bid

Hibs have hit yet another roadblock in their pursuit of Jamie McCart as a report claims St Johnstone are set to reject a third bid.

The Easter Road side have business still to do in the transfer market and are closing in on Clyde keeper David Mitchell.

Reports in Norway, meanwhile, claim a second bid has landed for left-back Kristoffer Tonnessen.

Hibs' main target, however, is still McCart, who they have made two unsuccessful offers for already.

It had been hoped that Saints' elimination from the Europa Conference League would weaken their financial position and open the door for a move to go ahead.

But the Daily Record are reporting that Jack Ross' team have made a third offer, which has been rejected.

It's understood St Johnstone aren't happy with the payment terms and want the bulk of the fee up front, while Hibs want to spread it to lessen the immediate cost.

24-year-old McCart has played every minute of Saints' season so far and is likely to start again against St Mirren on Sunday, unless there is a breakthrough in talks between now and then.
