Hibs issue fan warning ahead of Queen of the South clash amid SFA 'punishment' risk

Hibs have released a statement warning fans to stay away from their Scottish Cup clash with Queen of the South.

Stadiums across the country remain closed in the midst of the Covid pandemic but the Easter Road side have moved to urge fans to stay home.

A statement from the club have raised concerns that the SFA Joint Response Group can issue punishments to clubs under new rules if fans travel to Dumfries.

They called for fans to support Jack Ross' men from the safety of their own home.

It read: "The club would like to remind all supporters of the latest government guidance at this stage of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The basic message is to stay local. We would ask all our loyal valued supporters to please stay at home this weekend and listen to the commentary from Cliff Pike and Tam McManus on HIBS TV or watch the game live on the BBC.

"Under the new guidance from the Joint Response Group, the club can be punished for breaches of the guidelines.

"It is therefore important that we all follow the guidelines to assist the team in their push for a third place finish and a good Scottish cup run."

Jack Ross' men face the Doonhamers on Monday night looking to seal their place in the fourth round, but the draw was done this afternoon.

And Hibs will face Stranraer in the fourth round, with a potential clash against either Motherwell or Greenock Morton up for grabs in the fifth round of the tournament.
