Hibs injury update as Jack Ross makes availability admission ahead of St Johnstone clash

Jack Ross has admitted Hibernian could be without three or four players for this weekend’s trip to St Johnstone.

Several players may be asked to play through the pain barrier in Perth, as Ross ’ side look to tighten their grip on third place in the Premiership.

However, the game may come too soon for others

Youngster Josh Doig failed a late fitness test ahead last Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Motherwell at Easter Road, however he was the only doubtful squad member that didn’t make it.

He isn’t the only one this week though, although Ross hopes to have the left back available to face the Betfred Cup winners.

Saints disposed of Hibs with relative ease in the semi final at Hampden before lifting the trophy after a 1-0 win against Livingston on Sunday.

“At this stage of the season players all have some aches or niggles but they want to carry on so we will see who is able to do that,” Ross told the Edinburgh Evening News.

“Josh hasn’t trained yet this week and that is the case for some others as well, so we are trying to manage them and give them the best chance of being involved.

“There were a couple of them who played last week while carrying wee knocks but that is normal for this time in the season. Some players want to just carry on, some others aren’t able to.

“At this stage we could be missing three or four, or we could be at full strength.”
