Hibs hit season ticket milestone as numbers track AHEAD of previous year despite SPFL uncertainty

Hibs have announced they've hit 5,000 season ticket sales and despite the coronavirus pandemic are tracking ahead of last season's numbers.

The Easter Road club put their tickets on sale on March 27.

Fans are keen to back the club during a difficult period, and Hibs have confirmed several thousand have been sold.

On April 29 last year close to 10,000 tickets had been sold for the forthcoming Premiership campaign.

The club announced a year ago: "Following Friday’s Early Bird deadline, we are pleased to report that season ticket sales for next season are already in excess of 9,500.

"We’re neck and neck with the total sold this time last year, which proved to be a record-breaking number in the end."

However, season tickets for 2019-20 were launched on March 7 and numbers are currently tracking ahead of the figures at the same point in sales last season.

Even if the 2020-21 season can start on time, it's highly likely that matches will be played without fans initially.

Hibs have already announced that their first home Premiership match will see NHS workers invited as guests, with the players to wear a message thanking the health service on next season's shirts.

This story has been updated to reflect the fact season tickets went on sale earlier for 2019-20 and numbers are currently ahead of the comparable figure last year.
