Hibs hero Kevin Nisbet says scoring first is the key to Scottish Cup glory

Kevin Nisbet says if Hibs score first against St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup final they can bring the famous old trophy back to Edinburgh.

The 24-year-old from Cambuslang says there isn't a team in the Premiership that can come back from Hibs opening the scoring, and hopes that's the case tomorrow at Hampden.

And he says if Hibees get right behind their team for the full 90 minutes - even though they can't be at the national stadium - Nisbet and his teammates will try to give them more glory.

The former Dunfermline and Partick Thistle striker, who netted in a 2-0 semi-final win over Dundee United, told Hibs TV: "I think we're a team that look very hungry, we're hungry for success and we've hit form at the right time.

"We're looking forward to it and all the boys are buzzing.

"The mood is great, I think it's possibly the best it has been.

"In cup final week everyone's buzzing every day, and I think we're just dying for it to come around.

"We're hopeful on Saturday that we can go out and deliver a good performance, and bring the cup back to Edinburgh.

"I think the most important thing is to score first, for us.

"If we go and score first I don't think there's any team in the league that can come back and beat us.

"Just go out and score first, put a really good performance in and possibly put a good show on for the boys."

Nisbet says playing the cup final in an empty Hampden won't faze Hibs, because that has been a familiar scene during the pandemic.

"By this point in the season I think we're used to it now," he said. "We're used to not playing in front of fans, and of course we'd love them to be there, but I don't think it will faze us or affect us in the game.

"It's just down to us to go and win that cup, now.

"If you look at some of the videos from the last time Hibs were at Hampden [in the Scottish Cup final], the fans were signing Sunshine on Leith, it's incredible, and if the support get behind us for the full 90 minutes, hopefully we can go and deliver that cup for you."
