Hibs' Head of Sports Medicine Nathan Ring to join Stephane Omeonga at Under 21 Euros

It’s not just on the pitch that Hibs have an interest in this summer’s Under 21 European Championship finals.

Stephane Omeonga has been included in the provisional Belgium Under 21 squad after a fine second half of the season on loan at the Hibees from Genoa.

The club’s Head of Sports Medicine, Nathan Ring, will also head to Italy with England Under 21s as part of coach Aidy Boothroyd’s backroom staff.

Ring has been at Easter Road since 2016 and has plenty of experience in football. His first role in football was as a part-time physiotherapist with Kettering Town FC at the cub’s Centre of Excellence.

From there he moved on to Shrewsbury Town as Head Physiotherapist before becoming Medical Manager at Brighton and Hove Albion.

He then moved away from football as Senior Physio with British Gymnastics at Lillieshall, former base of the now defunct footballing centre of excellence, before taking up his role with Hibs.

Ring has been combining that with his England position since October 2017.

Belgium kick off their campaign against Poland on Saturday 16 June in Reggio, while England open against France two days later in Cesena.

Hibs fans wanting to see how Omeonga (if he makes the final cut) and his countrymen get on can watch the Poland match live on Sky Sports football, kick-off 5.30pm.
