Hibs goalkeeper Ofir Marciano earns call up to Israel side for Nations League clash with Scotland

Ofir Marciano is in line to face Scotland at Hampden in next month's Nations League clash after the Hibernian goalkeeper was named in the Israel squad.

The Hibs stopper is likely to line up opposite Steve Clarke's men at the national stadium for the Group B2 match on September 4 after a good run of form for the Easter Road side.

Marciano is yet to concede from open play in the Premiership this season and has kept three consecutive clean sheets as the men in green and white continue to keep pace at the top of the league.

Israel have gone through a transition in the dugout, with the national side appointing their former technical director Willy Ruttensteiner as their new head coach to replace Andreas Herzog.

The 30-year-old has 16 caps for the national side, but has not featured since the 2-1 defeat to Poland last year.

However, fellow stoppers Itamar Nitzan and Ariel Harush are yet to play this season, with Harush currently looking for a club after leaving Hapoel Be'er-Sheva earlier this summer.

It means Marciano is likely to start in the games against Scotland in Glasgow and Slovakia in Netanya three days later.

Celtic pair Nir Bitton and Hatem Abd Elhamed are also included in the squad.
