Hibs fans get Scottish Cup boost with UEFA set to allow supporters at Hampden

UEFA are set to give the SFA the all clear to allow fans at the Scottish Cup Final between Hibs and St Johnstone next weekend.

The governing body currently have control of the stadium ahead of the European Championships and the game was due to be held in front of an empty stadium.

But with Covid restrictions being lifted, fans would be able to attend Hampden and the SFA put a request into UEFA to see if they would be allowed supporters.

And now Hibs fans should be able to attend the final with the governing body reportedly giving the go ahead for them to be allowed to attend.

A short statement from UEFA given to BBC Scotland said: “UEFA has been able to find a solution with the Scottish FA to allow a limited number of spectators for the Scottish Cup Final.”

The Easter Road side take on Hibs at Hampden a week on Saturday with Jack Ross' side hoping to win their second Scottish Cup in five years.

They last won it in 2016 with David Gray heading in a last minute winner for Hibs to beat Rangers 3-2.

It was the first time Hibs had won the tournament in 114 years.
