Hibs fan group donates more than £24,000 to club after supporters dig deep

A leading fan group has donated more than £24,000 to Hibs after supporters dug deep to support the club.

The Hibernian Supporters initiative, commonly referred to as HSL, has seen a surge in the number of contributors in recent months.

Edinburgh Live reported last week how the group had seen a surge in more than 700 new pledges in the seven days after the club announced cost-cutting measures.

As a result a bumper five-figure sum has been donated to the club during these difficult times.

Hibernian Supporters tweeted: "We are delighted to confirm our latest payment has been made to the club, the first since a recent rise in the number of contributors.

"Over £24,000 has been raised in June by the Hibernian support – an amazing effort by all. Let's keep this going!"

They added: "We thank every single one of you who have come on board in recent weeks and those who have been with us a long time.

"We all want sunshine to return to Leith as often as possible – every contribution goes towards making that happen."

Almost 10,000 season tickets have been purchased as fans show amazing support for the club, despite uncertainty over when they'll be allowed back to matches.
