Hibs defender Ryan Porteous being watched by Galatasaray as Turkish giants weigh up move

Hibernian defender Ryan Porteous is being tracked by Turkish giants Galatasaray, according to reports.

The 21-year-old centre half has not played for the Easter Road club since suffering a season-ending injury during January’s Scottish Cup clash with Dundee United at Tannadice.

However, The Herald claims Porteous - who received his first call up to the Scottish national side last season - has been watched by scouts from the Super Lig champions, while clubs in Germany have also been credited with an interest.

The highly-rated stopper penned a new deal until 2023 with the Hibees earlier this year after becoming a regular in the Easter Road back line.

Porteous linked up with the full international side for the first time in November 2019 ahead of the Euro 2020 qualifying double-header against Cyprus and Kazakhstan, but did not play in either fixture.

The Hibs academy product made his debut at the start of the 2017/18 campaign in a League Cup group stage tie with Montrose and has become a popular player at his boyhood club thanks to his assertive defensive style.

Former Aberdeen winger Ryan Fraser is also reportedly on the shortlist of the Istanbul-based club, who sat third in the league before the season was mothballed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
