Hibs defender Paul McGinn earns Scotland call-up as full back rewarded for cracking start to season

Hibernian defender Paul McGinn has been called up to the Scotland squad for the first time.

The 29-year-old's excellent early-season form for Jack Ross' side hasn't gone unnoticed by national team boss Steve Clarke.

McGinn will now be given the chance to represent his country alongside his brother, and ex Easter Road hero, John in Nations League matches against Slovakia on Sunday and the Czech Republic next Wednesday.

Scotland don't have many options at right back and with Liam Palmer out injured, and Stephen O'Donnell limping off against Israel, McGinn has likely got a good chance of starting.

An appearance alongside John would make the pair the first brothers to represent the national men's side since Gary and Steven Caldwell.

McGinn was Jack Ross's first permanent signing as Hibs boss when he joined the club from St Mirren in January and has been ever-present in league action this season.

Aberdeen's Andrew Considine has also received a maiden call up to the squad ahead of the fixtures.

Scotland face Slovakia at Hampden on Sunday, with kick off at 7.45pm. The Czech Republic match is also at home, with kick-off 7.45pm on Wednesday.
