Hibs defender Kane O'Connor set for move to Brentford

Hibs defender Kane O’Connor is reportedly set to move to Brentford.

The 18-year-old was on trial and Premiership Burnley earlier in the season, and had been attracting interest from Huddersfield as well, but it appears the Bees are the youngster's chosen destination.

The 18-year-old signed a professional contract at Easter Road in January 2017. He was on the bench as the Hibees won the Scottish Youth Cup in 2017.

It’s understood he trained with he trained with all three clubs and held discussions, but will join the Griffin Park club this summer.

A clearer pathway to the first team at Brentford is apparently what made Thomas Frank’s side the preferred choice.

Darren McGregor and Paul Hanlon have both been fixtures ahead of O’Connor at Hibs, with Ryan Porteous clearly the long term option to replace McGregor while he recovers from injury.

That leaves little room for O'Connor in Paul Heckingbottom's first team plans.
