Hibs attacker Harry McKirdy has successfully undergone heart surgery.
The 26-year-old's recovery period after the major operation starts now, as he looks toward a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The Englishman discovered earlier this summer that he would spend a significant period of time out of the game after a routine medical test found an unexpected issue.
While the club refused to name the exact problem at the time, it has now been revealed that the player has successfully gone under the knife for the heart problem.
He will now recuperate ahead of what is likely to be a long road back to full fitness.
A statement from the Easter Road club reads: "We can provide a positive update on the fitness of Harry McKirdy.
"The 26-year-old forward underwent successful heart surgery and will now begin his road to recovery.
"The Club’s medical department will continue to have open dialogue with his surgeon, and specialists, to ensure he continues to recover in this positive manner.
"McKirdy will be out for a significant period of time but the Club are confident that Harry will return to full fitness following his rehabilitation period."
