Hibs 'confident' over Elie Youan transfer with 'six-figure' option in St Gallen loan agreement

Hibs are confident of keeping Elie Youan at Easter Road beyond the summer.

The capital club snapped up the St Gallen forward on a loan deal last June and he has gone on to net six goals and provide seven assists in all competitions to date. He played a key role in Lee Johnson's men securing top six football as they now look to book a spot in Europe for next season over the final five Premiership matches.

The Daily Record report that the Easter Road outfit are keen to keep the Frenchman on a permanent basis and have a six-figure option as part of his loan agreement that can be activated at any time. He has another year left on his contract at the Swiss club.

The Hibees have already been linked with two players ahead of the summer window opening. They are reportedly set to go head-to-head with league rivals Aberdeen in the race to sign defender Jay Idzes. The 22-year-old was a Dons target under Jim Goodwin but he remains on the wanted list of new boss Barry Robson.

Jamie McGrath - starring for Goodwin at current club Dundee United - is another who has been namechecked with Hibs.

The Tangerines boss wants to do a deal for him permanently if he remains at Tannadice beyond the end of the campaign but concedes there will be plenty of interest north and south of the border including from Celtic hero Scott Brown and his Fleetwood Town side.

Goodwin said: “There will be a number of teams in Scotland who will be interested in Jamie.

"I know it hasn’t worked out the way he would have liked at Wigan but I do think there will be a number of teams down there taking notice of what he is doing.

"I have worked closely for a couple of years at St Mirren and since coming in here, that relationship is a good one.

"We work well together and wherever I end up in the summer or what opportunities I get in the summer then I would want to be one of those managers in the mix to try and make Jamie a permanent signing."
