Hibs complete Dylan Vente transfer as Johnson hails 'notable fee' backing

Hibs have completed the transfer signing of striker Dylan Vente.

Lee Johnson landed the Roda JC striker on a three-year deal having been backed to shell out a "notable fee" to seal a transfer swoop.

Vente, 24, scored 51 goals in 98 appearances for Dutch side Roda JC after moving to the second-tier side from Feyenoord.

Upon the arrival of Vente, Hibs boss Lee Johnson said: “First of all, I would like to thank the Club who have worked extremely hard to get this deal over the line, in particular, Ben Kensell, Ian Gordon and Brian McDermott with the negotiations and the financial backing from the Gordon family to bring a player of Dylan’s quality in.

“Dylan is a player coming into his prime who has a natural ability for both scoring and creating goals.  I am really excited to see how he adapts to the intensity of the Scottish game because we know he has the ability to be very successful here.

“The squad is coming together really nicely now, we have got several options in key positions – which will be crucial for us moving forward this season.”

A club statement added: "Hibernian FC are excited to announce the signing of Dylan Vente on a permanent transfer, subject to international clearance and work permit approval!

"The 24-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year deal, joining from Dutch side, Roda JC, for an undisclosed fee.

"The arrival demonstrates a significant investment in the playing squad this summer, on top of continued financial backing into the infrastructure at both Easter Road Stadium and Hibernian Training Centre from the Gordon Family.

"Signing for the Hibees for a notable fee, Vente becomes the Club’s ninth summer acquisition for the First Team.

"Our new centre-forward is a proven goal scorer – having scored 51 goals in 98 games for Roda JC – as well as contributing 16 assists during his two-and-a-half-year spell with the Dutch second division side.

"A product of the Feyenoord’s academy, Vente progressed all the way up through the age grades and into the First Team, representing the Dutch giants in competitions including the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and the Eredivisie.

"The striker has also represented the Netherlands on the international stage all the way up to under 20s level – scoring five goals in 13 international appearances for the Dutch U20s.

"Vente now joins Hibs for the 2023/24 campaign and will wear the number 9 shirt for Lee Johnson’s side!"
