Hibs’ rearranged trip to face Ross County has been cancelled for a second time just over 24 hours ahead of kick off.
The Covid-hit Easter Road club have succeeded in their plea to SPFL bosses to have the game put back further after Saturday’s original scheduled fixture was cancelled with just four hours to spare due to an outbreak of the virus in Jack Ross ’ squad.
Hibs, who have five players plus a member of staff isolating on top of five other first team stars being injured, were furious at being told to play the match so soon after Saturday’s postponement.
Members of their under 18 side were prevented from being called up due to the fact they had played less than 24 hours earlier on the Friday night.
Those youngsters were on standby for the rearranged trip to Dingwall.
But SPFL chiefs have confirmed the game is now postponed again, and Saturday's fixture with Livingston has also been postponed.
A statement from the governing body read: “After reviewing the information provided by Hibernian, their cinch Premiership matches against Ross County and Livingston this week have been postponed.
"New dates for both games will be announced as soon as possible.”
County were fuming at the late call-off first time round and are to press the league body for compensation having lost a substantial amount in terms of lost hospitality costs, stewarding and club television costs.
Hibs tested their squad every day this week but talks between chief executive Ben Kensell and SPFL bosses over a second postponement were ongoing this afternoon.
