Hibs boss Jack Ross insists SFA must remember their own Covid blunder when dishing out punishment to clubs

Jack Ross insists the SFA should remember their own Covid cock-up when dishing out punishment to member clubs.

The Hibs boss received an apology from the governing body after an assistant referee ran the line during last week’s win over Hamilton Accies when he should have been self isolating.

Graeme Stewart had been part of Bobby Madden’s team of officials who were handpicked to take charge of the powderkeg Athens derby clash between Panathinaikos and Olympiacos.

But Stewart’s fellow linesman David Roome tested posted for Covid and all officials should have been isolating with the SFA forced to apologise to both clubs.

Ross said: “It wasn’t great, they’ve acknowledged that. There have been a lot of things over the season that people have made entirely innocent mistakes over, and I don’t think this was anything other than that as well.

“So be it, I’m not looking for anyone to be heavily chastised over it. I just hope they bear that in mind when somebody makes a mistake in the future!

“I was comfortable in that we were not at any risk although I am quite sure a lot of people breathed a sigh of relief when our set of Covid results came back negative! I know they have got their own investigation into it.

“I spoke to Ian Maxwell who brought me up to speed with where the situation was at and explained how it had arisen and the oversights on their behalf they’ve spoken about since.”
