Hibs bite back over Andy Murray and Arsenal claim as Wimbledon gets underway

Hibs are never shy in letting the world know that Andy Murray is one of their own.

And why would they be? He's arguably the greatest sportsman Scotland has ever produced and the best tennis player to ever come from the UK.

He's competed at the top level for a long time but he's also a regular at Easter Road when he's back home in Scotland, so naturally Hibs were a bit surprised by a claim on social media he was an Arsenal fan.

An English newspaper suggested the former Wimbledon champion supported Arsenal as they named the favourite team of a host of different tennis players.

It included the likes of Novak Djokovic being a Manchester United fan, Rafa Nadal supporting Real Madrid and Juan Martin Del Potro being a Boca Juniors fan.

But more than a few people were left surprised by the team that was named alongside Murray.

They said that Arsenal were his team and he has been pictured in a Gunners top before, but everyone knows where his true allegiances lie.

And Hibs responded on social media with a wave and an image of Murray holding up a Hibs scarf to prove he is definitely one of theirs.

Jack Ross’ men will actually face Arsenal in a pre-season friendly soon. Maybe the winner can claim Murray as truly theirs?
