Hibs announce closed doors plan as fans offered quirky way to support from home

Hibernian have announced the sale of personalised fan cut-outs to allow fans to show their support at Easter Road in the coming season.

The initiative began with fans of German clubs paying to have their likeness present in the restarted Bundesliga and it has spread to English Premier League and Championship clubs as well.

With the Scottish Premiership likely to begin behind closed doors when it restarts on August 1, Hibs have now jumped on the trend as a way of showing support while staying at home.

Priced at £25, the cut-outs will be "seated" in the East Stand of the Leith club's ground and will be available to keep as a memento once crowds can return to football in full.

And in a kind gesture, £1 of every cut-out sold will go to the Edinburgh and Lothians Health Foundation.

The club are also in touch with supporters to display flags and banners over empty seats.

Hamilton Accies were the first Premiership club to announce the sale of personalised cut-outs in a quirky partnership with the German Doner Kebab restaurant chain.
