Hibs and Rangers substitutes clash at Easter Road as Premiership rivalry spills over into half-time

Hibs and Rangers substitutes clashed at half-time, as a fiery contest at Easter Road threatened to boil over.

There's no love lost between the Ibrox men and their capital rivals, with a number of flashpoints in recent years.

In December last year a Ryan Porteous tackle on Borna Barisic sparked a furious bust-up between the two benches, with three red cards shown to coaching staff from both sides.

Sunday's match was no different, with Rangers irritated by some physical challenges from the hosts in an open first half.

The players retreated to the dressing room for a breather, but hostilities continued among the substitutes at half-time.

In images picked up by Sky Sports, players warming-up could be seen having a full and frank exchange of views on the Easter Road turf at the break.

Drey Wright had put Hibs in front, only for Alfredo Morelos to draw things level just before the break.

And it seems those on the sidelines were just as invested as their team-mates on the pitch as they clashed during the warm-up.

While the two sides didn't quite come to blows, it was a stark illustration of just how high tensions were running in Leith.
