Hibs ace Josh Doig wins Scotland U19 call up after stunning top team breakthrough

Hibs ace Josh Doig has been rewarded for his stunning breakthrough at Easter Road with a first call up to the Scotland Under 19 squad.

The full-back has been an ever-present in Jack Ross’s backline after making his debut in the opening day victory over Kilmarnock.

But he will miss the Betfred Cup clashes against Brora and Cove next week as he joins Billy Stark ’s U19 international set-up for a friendly double header against England at St George’s Park.

Stark named his squad yesterday with Hamilton striker Andy Winter, Hearts defender Cammy Logan, Ross County full-back Josh Reid and Stoke’s Lewis Macari - grandson of former Celtic and Manchester United legend Lou - also in line for their first caps.

Rangers duo Kai Kennedy and Ciaran Dickson take their place in the 20-man squad. But there’s no place for Aaron Hickey despite the 18-year-old’s starring debut for Bologna at the weekend.
