Hibernian target Hakeem Odoffin is an absolute professional, says Hamilton Accies boss Brian Rice

Brain Rice has praised Hakeem Odoffin’s professionalism and character amidst reported interest from Hibernian.

The 22-year-old has received strong interest from English clubs while Jack Ross’ side have also been linked.

Odoffin was exceptional for Hamilton Accies last season after arriving from Livingston as Rice deployed him in a new role as a destructive midfielder.

The former Tottenham youngster is currently sidelined but should return for Accies’ Championship opener against Raith Rovers and Rice strongly reiterated that Odoffin is a dream to work with.

“He’s an absolute gentleman,” said Rice. “He’s a very hard worker, he’s very conscientious and he’s a good pro.

“There will be no problems whatsoever with Hakeem if he stays.

“I want to keep him at the club. He’s a big part of what we are trying to do but when somebody does well then there’s going to be interest.

“There’s definitely going to be interest. He’s done very well for us and there is obviously interest.

“We know that but he’s still our player and I hope that he can be our player until the end of the season.”
