Hibernian star Kevin Nisbet and Motherwell's Tony Watt donate strips to help Peterhead's Gary Fraser

Kevin Nisbet and Tony Watt are amongst a host of players to donate prized strips to help Peterhead star Gary Fraser.

The 26-year-old midfielder sustained a knee injury last December against Montrose and the former Hamilton Accies youngster requires expensive knee surgery.

The private operation is set to cost £7,5000 and all surplus funds will be donated to mental health charity Back Onside, where ex-Peterhead and Albion Rovers winger David Cox is a patron.

The Blue Toon set up a Just Giving page to raise for Fraser and their fundraising activities, which included successfully climbing Ben Lomond yesterday, has been supported by the footballing community.

Hibernian star Nisbet, from Cambuslang, donated his Scotland shirt which he scored his first international goal against Holland in last week.

Steelmen star Watt, from Coatbridge, also kindly donated a match-worn Motherwell jersey for the auction.

Peterhead boss Jim McInally donated his 1987 UEFA Cup Final jersey while West Ham chairman David Sullivan supported the cause with £2,500.

The crowdfunding total is just a few hundred pounds away from it's £10,000 target and you can still donate here.

The Balmoral side have kindly decided to Back Onside - who have supported former Rovers star Cox for years - and their founder Libby Emmerson is grateful for their help.

She told Lanarkshire Live: "The main thing is to raise enough money for Gary's operation but anything above that is donated to Back Onside.

"That's due to David being a patron and it's a tremendous gesture.

"It's fantastic to see how well it is going and it really is great that they've decided to choose us to support.

"Hopefully Gary can get his operation in the near future and he is back playing again soon."

The auction will run until Wednesday, June 16 and you can place a bid on any item by emailing peterheadfcplayers@gmail.com.
