Newcastle went into half-time ahead at Easter Road as they answered a goal by Scott Mallan with an excellent performance.
Joelinton opened his account for the Magpies and then Sean Longstaff hit a long-range effort to put Newcastle into the lead.

Had no chance with Mallan’s scorching strike. Recovered to make a couple of confident claims.
Javier Manquillo 8
Was effective both offensively and defensively. A lovely cross to tee up Joelinton for his first Toon goal.
Jamaal Lascelles 6
Missed from close range - won’t get many chances better than that to add to his Toon goal tally.
But solid from a defensive point of view.
Fabian Schar 7
Battled hard and won a few lost causes.

A solid enough display.
Matt Ritchie
Barely had a chance to make an impact before going off as a precaution.

A steady shift. Had one shot deflected wide.
Sean Longstaff 8
Never afraid to demand the ball. Caused Hibs problems in the first half - not least when hammering home a fine strike from the edge of the box.

Played some fantastic balls forward. Enjoying a new lease of life under Bruce.
Miguel Almiron 7
Worked hard but understandably lacking sharpness. Desperate for a goal.
Joelinton 8
Looked lively and took his goal well. Will do well providing he gets service like this. Showed some great touches.
