An HGV driver has died after his lorry collided with three British Army vehicles on the A38 in Derby that caused both carriageways to be closed.
Police are investigating the incident and are seeking dashcam footage from the crash that took place on the northbound carriageway near Mickleover, at around 1.45pm, on Wednesday.
Derbyshire police, the fire crews and East Midlands Ambulance Service all attended the scene.
The lorry driver, aged 53, suffered serious injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.
Police said that his family have been informed.
Both carriageways on the road had been closed at the A516 Uttoxeter New Road / B5020 junction and it led to long queues back to Burton.
Derbyshire Police said: "Officers investigating a fatal collision on the A38 are appealing for dashcam footage to help with their enquiries.
"The incident, which occurred on the northbound stretch of the road close to Mickleover at 1.45pm yesterday (29 September), involved three army trucks and an HGV.
"The driver of the HGV, a 53-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the Queen’s Medical Centre later that same day. His family are aware, and our thoughts are with them at this time."
Police are trying to gather information about what happened in the build up to the crash and are keen to receive the dashcam footage.
The police statement continued: "Detectives investigating the incident are appealing for any drivers with dashcam footage, in particular of the moments leading up to the incident, to get in touch.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Derbyshire police using any of the below methods, including reference 21*566586."
