HGV and tipper truck involved in serious road crash in Kilmarnock

An HGV and a tipper truck have been involved in a serious road smash, police have confirmed.

Cops are appealing for information after the two vehicles collided yesterday at around 2.45pm near to Moorfield Industrial Estate on the A759 near Gatehead, Kilmarnock.

A 38-year-old man driving the Ford Tipper truck hit a stationary HGV and was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital to be treated for his injuries, officers said today.

Medics describe his condition as stable. The driver of the HGV was uninjured following the crash.

Sergeant Craig Beaver of the Divisional Road Policing Unit in Ayrshire said: “Our enquiries into the cause of this crash are continuing and I would appeal to anyone with information or footage that may assist our investigation to contact 101 quoting reference 1964 of August 17.”
