Borussia Dortmund's charm offensive paid dividends as they beat Manchester United to Jude Bellingham's signature - and it's easy to see why.
Dortmund confirmed the signing of the 17-year-old midfielder from Birmingham City on Monday morning, with Bellingham signing a long-term deal at Signal Iduna Park.
BVB landed the young English prospect ahead of Man United, who had laid out the red carpet at Carrington in an attempt to wow Bellingham into signing earlier this year.
However, Bellingham has followed the route of Jadon Sancho by leaving England for Dortmund before his 18th birthday.
That path has been a spectacular success for Sancho, who joined Dortmund from Manchester City for £5m at 17 years old and is now an England regular, one of the stars of the Bundesliga, and could move to United for a fee in the region of £100m.
Having added Erling Haaland to their roster after signing Sancho, Dortmund have gained a reputation as the main destination for young talent hoping to make their mark in Europe.
Dortmund worked hard to get the deal done ahead of United, but the club's charm was on display as their announcement video featured members of Lucien Favre's squad singing Beatles classic 'Hey Jude' to welcome Bellingham,
The teenager himself emerges from the steps of Signal Iduna Park and says a simple 'Hey' to the camera with a smile. Classy.
Transfer announcement videos have the tendency to be overblown - Alex Sanchez to Man United, anyone? - but on this occasion, Dortmund seem to have struck the right blend of humour and delight at getting the deal through.
