Heung-min Son has been included in the Tottenham squad for their trip to Red Star Belgrade after Spurs decided he was mentally ready to travel to Serbia.
Son was visibly distressed after Gomes suffered a fracture dislocation to his right ankle but Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has decided the forward is in the right frame of mind to be included in the squad.
Son, who was in tears in the aftermath of the incident and has been offered counselling, was named in the squad which flew out to the Serbian capital this morning
Harry Kane, meanwhile, has recovered from a virus to hand Spurs a major boost ahead of their crunch Champions League clash against Red Star tomorrow.
The England captain missed Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Everton but is fit to return.
Kane’s return is a huge boost for Pochettino. Spurs struggled without him at Everton and need a positive result to lift some of the gloom around the club and boost their chances of reaching the knockout stages. Spurs are second in Group B, one point above Red Star, with three games remaining.
Pochettino has decided to select Danny Rose after weighing up whether to spare him an uncomfortable trip to Belgrade, seven years on from being subjected to racial abuse there while playing for England Under-21s.
Spurs, meanwhile, have confirmed they have appealed Son’s red card. If the punishment is upheld, Son will be suspended for the League matches against Sheffield United, West Ham and Bournemouth.
